The Geneva Motor Show is a great time of year for any car fan. Automakers from all over the world gather to show off their latest vehicles along with cool concept cars that could represent the future of motoring. Here at Executive Volkswagen of North Haven, we’re always excited to see what new technology and innovations are coming to future Volkswagen vehicles. The driving experience could change rapidly over the next few years and nothing shows off those possibilities quite like the Volkswagen ID Concept. This innovative electric car won’t show up for a while, but we already know about some of its unique features and how it could shake up the market.
The Volkswagen ID Concept will be built on the MEB platform and will be roughly the same size as the Volkswagen Golf. Naturally, it will offer autonomous technology. Once you activate self-driving mode in this vehicle, the steering wheel will actually retract into the dashboard, which might take some getting used to. This concept car comes equipped with some other unique and futuristic touches as well. The door handles are hidden and the rear door slides back instead of opening in a conventional way. The rear view mirror and side view mirrors are both replaced by cameras, which means you won’t have to worry about passengers blocking them.
The ID Concept also shows that the Volkswagen brand is serious about delivering a fun driving experience in an electric car that will alleviate your “range anxiety.” This concept vehicle is powered by an electric motor that can put out 168 horsepower. It can also travel at least 249 miles on a single charge, with some estimates reaching as high as 373 miles. You won’t have to worry about losing power before the next charging station in this car.
We can’t wait to learn more about this concept and what new electric vehicles are in the works. If you’re looking for a great new Volkswagen car right now though, visit our dealership near Old Saybrook, CT today. We’ll make it easy to find what you’re searching for.
